Humpback Whales Continued - Photos & story copyright by Carol Johnson

Hi again,

Here are some more pictures from our whale watch for you.
We have a new category on the site that is not finished but I thought we should make you aware of it. Pete and I have been very focused on photography this past year and we have an incredible archive of beautiful images we hope to offer to you all soon. We have focused on the migrating birds, of all kinds, Moose, Loons, Eagles, Hawks, Ducks, Bobcats, Owls, you name it. So while we are under construction we want you to know that if you have a specific picture you have been looking for, please ask us. We can send what we have for choices to you via email, along with pricing information. Meanwhile, enjoy the whales, they were amazing!!

Best,
Carol & Pete

Hi everyone!

Sorry it's been so long, hope you all are finding a way to beat the heat and still enjoy summer. We have been out on lakes as much as possible and still having fun through it all.

Yesterday we all went on a Whale watch on Captain John's Boats and it was amazing!! We saw over 30 Humpback Whales, some Minke Whales, a Harbor Seal Baby and tons of birds. It was a great time, poor Pete got a little green so was very disappointed, but he did enjoy it inspite of the green feeling.

Here is a list of what we saw and there will be more pictures, I can only do so many at a time.

Birds:

Manx Shearwater

Greater Shearwater

Wison's Storm Petrel

Sooty Shearwater

Bonaparte's Gull

Laughing Gull

Glaucous Gull

Greater Black Backed Gull

Herring Gull

Common Tern

Roseate Tern

Least Tern

Humpback whales

Minke Whales

Fin Whales

Harbor Seal Pup

Captain Bob Avila was kind enough to show us the boat, and explain in great detail about their watch. They all said this was a record year and to tell anyone who is thinking of a whale watch at some point to try and go this year. They tell us it has not been this good since the 1960's so do what you can to get out there, it is truly an amazing experience.

Best

Carol & Peter
