Great Northwoods Part 2

Happy Fall!
As promised I am doing the second part of the our NH adventures in the Great Northwoods. I think I left off at sunrise and how amazing it was not being able to see 10 feet in front of us, and hearing the Moose x 2 in the shadows. So we went back at night, for the sunset, and let me just say that seeing that magical of a place in both light extremes, with the symmetry of the reflections, the incredible colors, and silence. It was just us and nature, more wild than anything we have ever seen, emotional, spiritual, just amazing. So this is the newsletter of the Great Blue. Pete has been trying all summer to photograph Blue Heron's in the right light, pose etc, and frankly I think he got it done here. I of course followed every Hammer head noise I could and actually did get a few very nice sightings, no pictures of course, but with me and Hammer head it's not about the pictures. We seem to connect on a different level and I'm just not sure he's ready to be photographed yet. I'm just happy to see him as much as I have this year.
We hope you can take a minute and enjoy the pictures and we hope it in some way relaxes, inspires, lets you take a nice long cleansing breath, whatever works. It was such an incredible place that we just want to share a little piece of it and hope it's magic can be passed along to you, even if it's just a little of it, there was plenty to go around.
Peace,
Carol & Pete

The Real Northwood's 9-20-05

Hi Everyone!
We took a little vacation, for 2 days to the Great Northwood's region of New Hampshire, way up by the Connecticut Lakes and Canada. Let's just say it was amazing. We got up at 4:30AM and went to a lake out in the middle of no where, with a sign telling us it was the last vestiges of pristine northwoods in New Hampshire, including both exemplary virgin spruce-fir forest and large bog. So we paddle out, not being able to see 10 feet in front of us except for some twigs sticking out of the water, and a stump or two. I looked up and said Pete I think that is not a stump, it's a MOOSE! Sure enough there he was, big old rack on his head, just going under grabbing a bite to eat and coming up with a big snort. Of course depth of perception is lost in that fog, so we got a little freaked out being rut and all and kind of stopped as he looked right at us. It was very eerie not knowing where he was going or what he might do. Then Pete heard another moose up ahead and on the right. So we slowed way down and enjoyed the sounds. I got to see and hear my dear friend the Hammer Head (pileated woodpecker), which always moves me. Pete was so inspired and moved by the whole place that he came home and hammered out two new prototypes.

It was so amazing that we can't fit it all into one newsletter, so we'll leave you with the sunrise and send the rest next week with some other pictures. About the rings, yes there are two, we have gotten a ton of requests for them, so if you like one, please let us know. I have a list of people who want one started, and they will be done by Thanksgiving or soon after. The list is because we are making a limited number this time around and I want to make sure those of you who have asked for one get one. They will be approximately $65.00, give or take a few dollars, and of course the shipping costs. This is a good time to say that suggestions are always listened to. So if you have something you would like to see in the Northwood's collection pass it along. We can't promise we'll do it, but we might, and we alw
ays value your opinions.
Lastly, thank you to those of you who responded to our last newsletter and price increase warning. We will be forced to raise prices on October 1st, so if you want some new Northwood's pieces for you or for gifts now is the time!! Also thank you to those who found our newsletter entertaining, calming and just liked the pictures. We do it so you can enjoy, take a minute or two out of your busy days to relax and take in some scenery.
Have a great Day!
Peace,
Carol & Pete
